King of the Roost
King of the Roost. When my husband and I were first married we had an apartment in an old Victorian farmhouse in the country. Bantam roosters had the run of the yard and I fell in love with the beautiful coloring of their feathers. Fresh out of art school, I tried capturing their beauty in pastel drawings. In our next apartment, I painted a rooster on one of my kitchen cabinet doors. This quilt reminds me of that happy time when we were first starting out.

Redwork Winter
Redwork Winter. Growing up in western New York, my friends and I found plenty to do on winter days, right in our own neighborhood. There were hills in our village where we could toboggan or try out our Christmas skis, and fathers flooded their backyards for our ice skating pleasure. Snowmen were on duty all over town, keeping watch over our winter activities. Warm socks and mittens were a necessity. The radiator in our kitchen which was always piled high with our wet mittens, drying out, ready for our next outdoor adventure. This little redwork quilt brings back memories of those times when a snow day was great cause for celebration.
