King of the Roost

King of the Roost. When my husband and I were first married we had an apartment in an old Victorian farmhouse in the country. Bantam roosters had the run of the yard and I fell in love with the beautiful coloring of their feathers. Fresh out of art school, I tried capturing their beauty in pastel drawings. In our next apartment, I painted a rooster on one of my kitchen cabinet doors. This quilt reminds me of that happy time when we were first starting out.
